Killer broadheads . . .
Looks like Slick Tricks have the early lead on the number of kills with eleven. G5 Montecs are second with seven kills, mainly due to "Saxman the Deer Slayer".
Keep posting the broadhead used and the distance travelled with your deer pictures.
I really think we will have some good data by the end of the season.
Thanks,
Scott

Just mention the broadhead you used and the distance the deer travelled when you post your kill.smokepolehall wrote:where is the topic thread for posting BH's ?

Buck went about 50 yds. no blood for 35 yds then last 15 yds was able to find it well 150 gr Boltcutter
By the way . . .fixed blade kills out number the mechanical kills 30 to 9.
Distance travelled . . .mechanicals average 47, fixed blade 58 yards.
Of course, this is limited data.

4 doe for me.
#1 with a 2219 with 150 grain Wensel Woodsmans; went about 60 yards good blood trail.
#2 with a 2219 with 150 grain Wensel Woodsmans; hit too far back, went about 60 yards no blood, bedded down, put her down for good with a follow-up shot from 20 yards.
#3 with a Firebolt and 125 grain Slick Tricks; high double lung, partial paralyzed, 20 yards, good blood.
#4 with a Firebolt and 125 grain Slick Tricks; double lung, good blood down in 60-75 yards.

I'll get compile some information on the broadheads after rifle season opens in a couple of weeks.
Keep the information coming.

I am not in the contest but here is some data if it is wanted. Last Tuesday about 30 minutes before dark I shot a 7 pt. The buck came into my shooting lane and started away from me down the lane. Took aim as it angled away and shot - aiming for the last rib. I could tell I hit the deer and heard it crash off. It sounded like it ran further than normal on a good hit. I waited about an hour - got my son and flashlights and blood trailed & found the deer about 200 yards from where it was shot. Apparently as I shot the buck turned a bit more (swung his rear end around) and the shot entered the right ham - angled through the body and exited high at the left shoulder (deer was headed slightly down hill). About 4 inches of arrow was in the deer when I cleaned it. I found the rest of the arrow the next day about 30 yards from the hit. It was a clean break and it was about there that we first found blood. Part of the tracking was through thick brushes & high grass but there was adequate blood. Shot with exomag 200 using GT 22'' arrows with brass front insert and 100 grain wasp 3 blade head. Made a poor but lethal shot due to the great penetration. Arrow did not hit bone. Only one blade was a little wavy from contact with bone.
