Team Florida Scores

Post by flbuckmaster »

Saturday was the first day of the Archery season here in the panhandle. I hunted the morning without seeing any deer. I had tucked My mule into some brush at the end of a long food plot. I am unable to climb up into my lift so I sat in the front seat and pointed the Maxpoint out the passenger side resting on a camo covered shooting rail I put across the opening. I cut some brush and attached it to the front and side of the mule to try to conceal it as good as I could. I returned to the plot at around 4pm and began my wait. At 5:15 out pops a spotted fawn that just stood in one place. A few minutes later I saw the fawn run to the other end where I see another deer feeding. I assumed the other deer was its mother but as they worked their way to my end where I had been putting out corn, I saw that the other deer was a small spike. The fawn still stayed with the spike even as they were getting into my kill range. The spike started eating the corn but stayed facing me for several minutes.
As he slowely started to quarter towards me, the wind began swirled and I thought I was busted. He finially began to relax and I put my 20 yard crosshair 3/4 up on the body as he was next to the tree I knew was 23 yrds away. I let the Spitfire tipped carbon bolt go and watched it disappear into its chest behind the front shoulder. He whirled and ran out of the plot and I heard him crash in the brush about 40 yrds away. Recovery was made the next morning and the deer is now in the cooler. The bolt passed thru and was lying about 20 yrds beyond where I shot the deer.

My shot to the doubletree in the right center of the photo (23yrds). The Biologic plot was planted 2 weeks ago but the deer wont leave it alone. It should be kneehigh by Xmas.

As you can see I'm still skeared of team Va.
