deer changes our dinner plans
I went out Friday night just to watch the sunset from my new seat, that my 13year old daughter helped me cut in. I was there about 20 minutes just watching the sun. A nice sun set was interupted by 6 deer walking into my clearing. Something alerted the biggest doe, who turned and looked at me, she stomped and stared for what seemed like forever when your trying not to move. She then came up the hill for a closer look, but was behind shrubs. The uncomforable position I was in finally got the best of me and I had to move. She ran to the bottom of the hill into my shooting lane...broad side. I had no intentions of shooting a deer that night, but she began stomping again and back up the hill for another look at me. I finally just raised my crossbow, to see if she would go to the clearing again...and she did... this time I decided that every year I let them go early in the season and then struggle at sesasons end to fill the freezer. My wife had dinner plans for us so I was faced with a delema, well the dinner plans changed, 25 yard shot, double lung shot, she ran about 30 yards. We had tenderlion for supper the next night. My wife had no problem changing the dinner plans, when she knew tenderlion was on the menu. I would post pics if I could figure out how to.

WAB . . . just a simple question . . .if you have no intention of whacking a deer, then why did you have that crossbow thingy?
Congrats on a fine placed shot! What broadhead were you using?

I'd rather wear out than rust out.

New strategy...every time I go out to get one, I never see one...My daughter told me to go with the approach of not wanting to get one....and it worked out...going to try it again [/quote]
