Hi all from new guy !!!
First off I love this site !! Been reading here a couple weeks and the info you guys share is incredible... It's all about hunting here and no flaming each other. My story starts where I found an old crossbow at a yard sale. There was a stamp on it that told me it was 175lbs. It is 30 inches long at the butt and 26inches wide. Camo painted so no name available. We got a new string put on it and out of the junk arrows that came with it I got three that shot the same place at 25 yards, so I was hooked. The trigger is so bad you always think the safe is on but it seemed to hit real hard, to the vanes anyway. Since I worked way too many years in manufacturing, every year would be worse on the joints come bow season. A bad left elbow made it real hard to hold the bow at all. So this could get me back in archery !!! I love the close quarters of the hunt. After sitting two days of heavy rain and no deer, the weather cleared but for the next two days my brother fell asleep in his blind and snored so loud he scared the 6 point off I'd been trying for, actually no deer would come in while this was going on... We saw lots of does and turkey for the week and some fawns but the 6 took up feeding at night . there was a monster beauty of a 10 point but he was too smart to come in. On the last possible day I could hunt I decided to do a morning hunt off by myself and got lucky with a 5 point at 16 yards. Everything came together, I slowed my breathing, I knew the safety was off and just kept a steady pull on that bad trigger then heard the ARROW break a rib. " YEAH BABY " I heard it go down but gave it some time. I went to the place I'd shot and found my arrow and was so happy I got a pass through. The trailing was easy and I found him at about thirty yards. After getting home and doing alot of research I found out this is an old Comando made in 1980 and was the last year with this limb. And after shooting it through a crony and weighing the arrow she only generates 34lbs, at 206fps. I am going to hang it up next to the rack with the arrow. The Misses is already setting up a fund for a new Excalibur for me... I just don't know which one to get... Again love this site.... Kevin

Nice introduction Kevin. Welcome to the forum.
Nice wife to set up that fund for you. Eventually, you will grin ear to ear for as long as you own it. Good luck!

congrats on the deer and welcome to the fourm. as for the commando i had one of those and i got rid of it. and go the exomag and now the phoenix. what ever excalibur you choose it will do the job on any critter. but if the money is tight the vixen or phoenix will fit the bill just right.

I got to hold some Excalibur bows though, I'm 5'8" and the Equinox fit me well and so did the Relayer, man are they pretty !!!! The PHOENIX THEY HAD THERE WAS VERY DARK WITH NO ORANGE AT ALL..... Both the Equinox and Relayer came up very quick and naturally and I was on target with no adjusting. OH YEAH a guy I met there wants to buy my BOTEC ----- BONUS !!! more money for the Excal.... again thanks for the welcome I've really enjoyed reading all your threads and jokes.
