how far?

haven't shot a deer with my crossbow yet-but what is a reasonable distance for a buck to run with a solid double lung shot?

My buddy shot a big doe last week, and she went 896 feet on the GPS with a double lung hit, although she ran on a skidder trail, not through the brush per say. She was tough none the less.

I've had them drop within 30 yards, and I've had them go as far as 70 yards with a double lung hit.

20-150 yards... just depends on what the deer wants to do

think of yourself being shot.. pretty sure you would haul butt untill you blacked out :D

The buck I shot last year went 210yds in belly deep snow. I took out the left lung nicked the right lung and when I was gutting him I found that the main artery running from the heart back under the spine was severed. So even with major damage he fullout sprinted that far. He dropped at full speed because he slid in the snow for about 15 ft when he went down. They are tough no doubt about it.

a friend of mine who was a surgeon said a deer could go for 7 seconds with a 100% blood supply to the brain cut off-but how many shots result in a 100% cut off?-and a deer can go a long way in 7 seconds in any case....I've had a couple of guys say they hit a deer in the spine that dropped in its tracks-but that was by accident-not design.
