Question / NEED HELP!!!!!
I sat in one of my groundblinds tonight and had a terrible thought.
I wonder if my Spitfires will shoot through the mesh windows like my Montec's did or will the mesh open the blades sinse they face forward?
What do yall think?

can't ya peel back an edge of the screen and shoot through the opening....my cabela's 4 season lighting set blind has velcro on each corner and the middle of each side....so i can leave the screen up till shot time or have a diagonal window open ready to go....i don't see a need to try to shoot through the screens...........bob

One way to find out Scott, go out and try it!
I have the same reservations about my Hammerheads, so when in a blind I peel back the mesh, who ever decided to make them out of Velcro is an idiot.
Now, I peel back the mesh then use just a hair of it to hold it up, that way when/if I need it moved I can do it slowly and quietly. I haven't tried a practice shot through it yet though.

I've had my son set in the blind while I observed from a distance. My conclusions from trying that is that the mesh isn't really necessary.
I have changed my positioning of the blind, though.
Now I set it (Doghouse type blind) with one corner facing the area I expect deer to come to, and open the full windows on only the two sides forming the V facing that area. I set in the corner of the V (opposite corner) that is away from that, so I'm in maximum darkness where I can't be silouetted against an open window.
Even with screens if you're silouetted, or close to the screen in bright light, you're visible from outside! Keep your face in the shadows, and you're a lot less visible. Light (being well lighted inside such as with the sun shining on you) and movement are the things that draw attention!!!!!!!!!
Another trick I've tried using the setup above, is to take the small screen and velcro it so it covers the outside (away from the corner facing the deers location if it comes in to the point I expect) 1/3 of the large window with it. This give me 2/3 of the large windows to shoot through, and gives me 1/3 to spot deer through as they approach from the sides with perhaps a bit of extra protection from being seen if I move.
Basic rules I've adopted:
Stay in the shadows!
Stay still!

I will, I just need to get my blind back, it is set up in a new area I have been watching.. I swear the deer there is about 500 lbs, at least..sumner4991 wrote:David . . .get out there and take one for the team!Pydpiper wrote: I haven't tried a practice shot through it yet though.

Last time I did my mesh testing with the Slicks and all the preparation I put in to seeing my arrow a split second before entry I dry fired.. Yup, me, dry fired.
