Buck Bomb....Update # 2

Post by Sandman »

Well I headed to Aylmer this morning for my first morning hunt there....The wind was perfect for a great creek bottom that I had eyed up earlier in the season. I got a call yesterday morning from the farmer who owns the land stating "I was just at the back and my gosh Robin there were 10 deer standing in my winter wheat...Thought you might like to know". You gotta like it when you can recieve real time intelligence reports.

I headed in this morning at about 5 am and as I putted along the creek bed I stopped when I heard a noise infront of me...I paused for a moment. I was sure there was something infront of me so I turned on my light and infront of me no more than 20 yards was a great looking 8 point. He stared at me and I stared at him....sensing that I would lose the stare down I slowly backed up and then turned and walked back the way I came (the wind was perfect for me) and picked a tree about 20 yards back. I quietly as possilble attached my climber to the tree and started up.....I remember a little too late that I had my Buck Bomb so I pulled it our and sprayed it all over the tree I was climbing. I made my way to my perch and settled in~! About 10 mins after letting the bush return to normal I heard crunching of leaves.....soon I could make out the shape of a deer coming down wind of me. The deer came to my tree and for what seemed like 10 minutes all I could hear was loud breathing and exhauling.......But it was too dark to shoot so I watched intently hoping that the deer would stay put until day break but no such luck~! About 15 minutes before legal shooting light the deer turned and wandered off. It was a great morning although no shot was taken~!

I think Im starting to believe ~!

Cheers,
Robin

I think I'll bring some disposable surgical gloves when I use the Buck Bomb. I'd hate to get it on my hands then pick my nose by mistake while on stand.

I bought a BB the other night at Wal-Mart and while waiting in the truck for my wife to come out of the store I sprayed a little burst in my truck. The wife gagged all the way home, I thought it smelt kinda good.

Its not during the hunt I mind it.....It was on the way home while I was trying to eat a Tim's breakfast sandwich~! I soon learned to not breathe while taking a bite~!

Oh Rich.... I'm ROFLOL. My son must be thinking I'm having a seizure! You guys kill me - just can't resist trying it in an enclosed space, huh?

Personally the smell of earth cover scent, or estrous doe pee reminds me of fall days spent in the woods - that's a good thing, so I kind of like it. Having said that, I wouldn't go out on the town wearing it as a cologne!

Think that'll work?

I got sprayed my first time with it... I set the can down and it tipped over spraying me in the face. Its nice smelling pee all day in the stand..

I was worried more about the walk out of the woods in the dark smelling like a doe...knock on wood I wasnt mistaken for a deer by any young bucks

im gonna try the DE next week also. Ive got 35 cans ready to go LMAO

What I find that works really well for removing deer pee smell from my hands is to wash them with apple shampoo.... i know it sounds wierd but i tried it and it works awesome also i use it to remove gas from my hands as well. Sauve I think was the brand I stole off my wife.... green apple shampoo give that a try.

Geez CF . . .you are going to have every buck in the Eastern US under your tree. 35 cans! I hope you got a discount.

Do they work in the rain? I'm going hunting in the morning and it's suppose to be a cold steady rain. I'll stop by Walmart and try a can if you think it will work.
