Post by the frenchman »

when you go hunting

do you sit for the full day?
do you sit for a few hours?
do you have lunch on your stand?
or do you go out of the wood for lunch and then come back?

It depends on where I am hunting and what my schedule is like that day or week and whether I am hunting alone or with friends.

It depends. If rut time, all day sit is fine. If no rut, then not all day.

do you sit for a few hours?

Other than rut time, yes.

Of all day sit, then lunch on stand.

thanks
Michel

I do what I feel like doing
I watch the solar lunar charts
http://www.solunarforecast.com/solunarcalendar.aspx
And look at the major feed times and try to be there if I can.

I live 4 miles from my lease so I go home for lunch.

If I have the whole day I usually sit till about 1130-1200 then get down and take lunch and then go back later for the evening hunt, but if I am seeing a lot of deer movement I will sit longer M&M

After sitting in one spot for three hours and seeing nothing, I believe it is time to move to another spot.

A lot of my friends go out around 10 am and sit as long as they can. Deer get smart on us too. Most hunters go out in the morning and come in for lunch, then they will go out again in the evening. Deer will pick up on that and start moving around more in the later morning and afternoon. Deer need to move around or eat every 4 hours. Most of the deer I see in the woods are later in the mornig or early afternoon.

Cheers
