Got in the blind with a minimum of noise and fuss. Sat down, arranged my rifle, and made like a stone.
Five minutes later, here comes MEDIUM BEAR across the path about 70 yards in front of me ... a nice 200 or so pound bear ... slipped right on through. I thought, "Hmmm ... he's scared." I know my bears.
About three minutes after that, here comes BIG BEAR out on the path about 100 yards in front of me ... a mature boar well over 450 pounds ... taking his own sweet time, of course. He meandered toward me for about twenty yards, and then slipped into the woods, while I practiced sight pictures on his vitals.
About two minutes after that, here comes TINY BEAR across the path, about 40 yards in front of me ... a little fellow of 80 pounds or thereabouts. He crosses slowly, while I practiced sight pictures on his vitals.
I just sat there.
No deer, of course.
About ten minutes later, I hear big boy slosh across the canal about thirty yards away.
I just sat there.
About ten minutes after that, here comes Junior out on the path about twenty yards in front of me, where he proceeded to graze grass and sit on his rump for about three minutes, before heading back into the woods.
I just sat there.
No deer, of course.
So ...
MEDIUM BEAR ran away from BIG BEAR ...
BIG BEAR went off in the swamp to sleep it off ...
... and TINY BEAR came back for some more soybeans.
Where did the deer go?
I don't know.

Not in front of me.
Wise choice, on their part.

TINY BEAR better watch out.
He's just the right size for a barbecue.
