Fogging glasses

Post by B-Logger »

It's been a problem all my life! Has anyone ever found anything close that will keep glasses from fogging?

I use the anti-fog mask and it does help some but not totally. I've tried all the anti-fog stuff that is sold occasionally in stores. Got the last one at Bass. Stuff dried out fast so put a few drops of water in it and can still use it but it works only partially.

One time, back around 1960 I was at a county fair and saw the anti-fog stuff for the first time and bought a small bottle of it. That stuff actually worked and stayed working for most of a whole day, but I never saw it after then. Just the imitations. I suppose if you applied it once an hour or so it might help, but.....it looks like something we have to put up with all winter.

If you call a scuba diving shop, they all carry products for anti fog for goggles, glasses etc. From my diving days, I used a product called SeaSense. A few drops in leach lens, wipe, rinse and good for the day. I'm sure the names have changed in the last 10 years, but the product hasn't changed.

I have the kids on my hockey team with plastic shields rub a layer of shampoo on them and then take it off with a damp/wet rag. It works for them....Worth a try~!

X2. I was just going to suggest that. A little 'poo on the visor before hockey and it's good to go. Rub it on with your finger, wipe it off/polish it with a towel (don't rinse it with water) and it works great. If it works in the extreme conditions of hockey it should work just fine for glasses.

Dish soap works too...same thing really.

My glasses fogging problems were solved back in the 80s. I switched to contact lenses.

Spit will work on goggles for use under water but don't work worth a hoot otherwise.

Furniture polish?! I wonder about plastic lenses vs. glass?

My parents both routinely wash their glasses with dish soap and have no problems with fogging. Dry them with a paper towel.

I remember always prepping my ITECH mask with shampoo too, back in my hockey playing days. I teammate and I once went in on a bottle of the commercial anti-fog and were sadly let down by it's performance.
Take it easy.

Sax, hockey is a game our friends to the north play where they whack this black round thing around with sticks.

I think they do this because they can't hit a baseball.
