The fun of owning your property just goes out the door when theis happens. Getting back into hunting this year with my son, finding hunting land and finding a 20 acre parcel that "hunters" don't have permission for and have been using adjioning land they have permission for is upsetting as well. I know the "hunters" and thought they would have more sense, but the landowner lives 20 minutes away " and he'll never know". Needless to say we have exclusive permission now and can manage his property for him. Not bad I say. We are putting up a 2-3 man tree stand for us and his family to view nature and he can't wait. There is that side also.

I don't know who's is best between desertrat and apple orchard...

Anyways, I would put money on the guy who gave you grief, he's really being a A-hole. My buddy out near Espanola has some similiar issues with Metis hunting moose on his property. He caught them with a bull just off his property, but it was dragged across. The MNR said there's no proof it was shot on his side but they do have the right "to pursue to the end".

I ordered him a couple of Moultrie 4 Meg trail cams from Bowhunter SS for $100 bucks each. He caught them this year with a bear on his side. The one guy lost his new BRP Outlander 800!

I agree with using trail cams. Back when the guy was trespassing on the farm that I leased was caught by using a trail cam. The photo with the offender and the "posted" sign in the same frame were priceless when he went to court. Like Grizz said, talk it up, tell everyone in your area and the consequences when you find out who it was. People love to talk and it very well could be this person's demise. Good luck catching him.
God Bless !!!!!!!!!

depending on the size of your area and how many people hunt you can get the game wardens involved. If that deer was checked at a tagging station someone's name is there. Its obivious it was fresh and probably killed that day or before. Its a start to get some answers :D

but people talk and you will start getting details

Good idea CF, but we don't have to check deer in here in Ontario. You just don't want to get caught without a tag on it or you're in for some fines. Some people have a hard time accepting that as land is sold, their hunting spots may not be available any more. It sucks, but the fact is that someone paid serious coin to buy that land and the can do what they want with it.

I doubt the person even would have checked that deer anyway.. down here its pretty simple to find out or get a good idea who's doing things like that. All you have to do is ask around and see who shot what, but its a small town though :D More than likely, someone say John Doe with a doe and you can put 2 and 2 together

the badthing about the trail camera is that if they see the flash, they will probably break the camera up or steal that

Probably best to place one up a tree, angled down. Put it up with a climber and see if they can get it down  .

Looks like you have a "dumper" instead of a hunter. That carcass took some time. I'll bet they "processed" the deer at home and dumped it on the trail via atv. Probably ajoining property or access to the trail from their property.

Good luck on getting the guy.

It's amazing what some people will do. We lost a great place to bow hunt once because of something similar. The farmers let anyone hunt bow but no guns. Never pressed the issue as it was fine with me. WEll one idiot has to sneak in during shotgun hunt and blew it for everybody.

Yep ... still makes me shake my head ..

On the flip side .. I stopped a young guy driving by during the shotgun hunt ... he is a local and said he would get the word out ..

He also invited me out for a hunt this morning to show me that the local guys are a good crew ..

I came back this morning and the carcass had been removed !
