Got Our Second Buck

Post by dschnarr »

I got to the stand this morning at 6:30 and was already wet! The good thing was Only sat for 30 minutes and this 6 point walked by at 20yrd. I shot and he took of running with his tail down. I did not know how good of a hit it was since my scope was all wet. I waited 5 minutes and checked where he was standing and found my arrow in the ground. There was not much blood left on the arrow from the rain. It was pouring! So I walked over to my buddies stand and told him the news. We went to were I shot him and just followed the direction he went running. There was no blood trail left from the rain. It was pouring!!!!!! We found him only 40 yards from where he was hit. Will post pics latter I've got to dry out :lo Image

I decided against a morning sit today because of the weather forecast. There's enough standing water where I hunt to make for a hard tracking job, I don't need the rain making it harder.

Congrats on the buck. As long as you get a good hit, they don't go far.

I went out for a mornin hunt today, it was a real light rain in hamilton. had a 8 point come within 30 yard, but wouldnt you know it, he stood right behind the only tree. NO SHOT. I have no problem hunting in the light rain, just gotta make sure you dont take any long distance shots, and be as sure as possible of your shot. hopefully you get a great shot and little tracking.

congrats on the nice buck!!

Congrats on your buck.

I put Rain X anti fog on my scope and the flip up covers
If it's bad I leave the covers down and quietly flip them up before the shot.

Of coure I'm in a ground blind and not a tree stand.Worth a try
