Today's pheasant hunt...

Post by TPM »

Had a great day to day chasing pheasant with new forum member "subneural" and a buddy of his.

It was a beautiful day to be out.

The first pheasant I've got in over four years.

Final count, four cock birds and two hens.

Thanks guys for the great day! Thanks for your patience with young rookie dog Rusty. I'm sure subneural has some great pics of a couple of cock birds he shot.

They're all released birds. I don't think I'd ever have that much luck hunting wild pheasant in Southern Ontario. :(

I had a great time TPM, and we couldn't have asked for a nicer day. Rusty did a fine job for us - I'm not sure if it's proper to say that the birds were patient, or stubborn!

Thanks again.

Well, that's great, TPM.

Congrats on your bird (or birds?)! :D

Is that first pic typical of the terrain you hunted?

I ask because I always think of pheasant as being fencerow and brushy field birds. At least, they were where I grew up!

Glad you got to go!

Glad you guys all had a good time!

Is Rusty hanging his head in shame?
Hopefully he'll catch on to the game eventually.

I've already breasted my birds out, but I think I may try this technique next time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbwSGPtLUxw

What game farm did you go to? I wanted to go this year but when we were planning on going, something came up and we had to cancel. We want to go before it gets too late.
