Just back from Virginia . . .Team Virginia scores.

Post by sumner4991 »

I just got back. I left at 3:50 this morning to avoid the traffic. I got a crossbow 4 point buck and a rifle doe. I'm not sure how many more days I'll hunt, so these may be scored and Team Virginia will just leave it to the rest of you to catch us.

My hunting partner took a nice ten point. He was very fortunate all week. Everytime he sat down a deer would pop up. :)

I'll post some pictures/details later today. This is the first year in a long time that I didn't max out. I let several pass, Mike P. would be proud. The four point buck was injured or he would have passed too. First time I've ever took a crossbow deer during rifle season. 8)

Here are the pictures . . .

Saxman . . .I'll start with by hunting partner's 10 point. He got this off the ridge where you were suppose to be sitting. A young doe came out first, as Bobby was watching the doe, she took a pee. Then bad Daddy came rushing in . . .I think she sat him up for a fall. The doe was only 15 yards from Bobby.

Here is the four point cripple. He came across the ridge looking for does. He turned to leave after not seeing anything in the orchard. I hit the bleat can once and he came on down the hill. I decided to take the shot as soon as I noticed the limp. Looked like he might have gotten hung up on a fence or possibly an errant arrow. His knee was torn, it can be seen in the photo. 40 yards out, a double lung hit with a Stricknine. He went 15 yards according to my range finder.

Here is the doe. She came into an open field after her two fawns just before last light. 140 yard .270 into the vitals . . .dropped instantly.
