Fighting does

Post by Mailman »

3 does came out into a small field,. Then they started eating, out of range. Then 1 of them got up on her hind legs and stood straight up. The other one came right up to her and stood up right in front of her. Then I saw the most awesom sight. They started hitting each other like 2 boxers. Then 1 of them came down on all 4's and the one that was still standing, smacks a hoof right on her back. the other doe[turned out to be a button buck] was just grazing as them two went at it. They finally started toward me and I shot the button buck. First xbow deer. Has anyone seen this before?

Yeah ... I've seen a few people shoot button bucks before! :D

Seriously, I've seen fighting does a number of times. Most any group of does has one old hussy that won't put up with much from the others.

It is pretty neat to see, huh? :D

I can't see that I've seen a doe fight before but sounds like it would be interesting to say the least. Congratulations on your first crossbow harvest  .
God Bless !!!!!!!!!

I know I said there were 3 does because I saw no horns. I had a doe permit and was lucky to take, what I thought was a doe, but it was a button. Could the other 2 been button bucks fighting or playing?

Deer have an established pecking order that is constantly enforced by such bouts. The bucks also do that...until their horns harden.
