Trail cam (and tears)

Post by DesertRat »

After seeing the beating my last buck had received, I knew there were bigger critters on the farm. I had some photos of a nice size 12 pointer but in overall size he was close to what I shot. I knew there had to a be a monster looming in the background. Well, last week I finally got him on film.

The part that wants to make me cry is he hit the bait 3 days in a row including this daytime feeding, which I ended up interupting. I had not been to check on the bait or my camera for a while so went in to see how things were doing. I arrived at about the same time as these pics were taken and bumped him off the bait about 10 minutes later. Haven't seen him on camera or in person since. That was exactly one week ago:cry:

You're letting him pass on his DNA... It's all good in the long run!

Makes me sad too. That's a very nice buck.

Trail cams can do that to you!! Sometimes we would be better off not knowing what lives where we hunt.

So true about the cams. last year I was convinced there were not many bucks on the property and was happy with the 8 pointer I got. This year I am losing sleep knowing these giants are out there!!!

I sat for from 7am to 2:30 pm today hoping he would either pass by after feeding or catch him going for a daytime snack. No luck.

That boy has some mass!

You now have a target buck to hunt DesertRat.

I agree with CF and judging by the mass you can see from the second picture that porker might well push 160.

We have been looking at all the photos and guessing 150-16. Body weight, gotta be close 300 or better. Would like to stick him and find out for sure:wink:
