Big Carolina Bear

Post by raydaughety »

Tyler and I have seen a nice bear on the farm that we hunt several times but just don't care to bear hunt. When I got a call from the farmer telling me that he had shot a nice bear, I never dreamed that he was this big.

North Carolina is quickly being recognized for it's population of huge black bears. Just ask Grizz, I think that he has a couple of biguns around his place  . This big boy weighed in at 595 lbs. We're waiting to see what the skull will score for his final B&C score. In fact, we're having a deer hunt there today to thin out some does.

Sorry for the poor photos, they were taken with a cell phone camera  .
God Bless !!!!!!!!!

Yep.

A 602 pounder was killed very close to my farm this year, and a 500+ was killed by a car out on 94 about 1000 yards from my house.

I've heard of five over 500 killed in this general area (Hyde, Tyrrell, Washington) so far this year.

We've got 'em.

That's a nice one. :D

VixChix, Your not the only person to say that they'd like to see a spring bear seaon back in Ontario. It's unfounded not having one ! There are more bears in Ont. than ever. A complete load of crap that allowed this to happen, and just as bad is the fact that I doubt we'll see a spring seaon reinstated anytime in the near future.
I know of more than one story of a farmer shooting one out of seaon here because they were either becoming too bold around their homes, or damaging their crops. Unfortunately Ontario is also missing out on a large source of revenue through license fees and income tax heading to outfitters in QC or Manitoba.

-I know it's only my opinion....but it's the only one I value on this topic.

I'm sure there's a lot of SSS going on... it's just too bad that the guiding industry had to take the hit.
