OFAH's Women's weekend - (WOW)

Post by VixChix »

http://www.ofah.org/wow/

There's a link on that page to be put on an email list for info on the 2009 weekend to be held in Sept.

If interested, it's best to register soon as last year it booked up very quickly.

Great gift idea for the gals in your life. Valentine's Day is just around the corner....

You could come as an instructor.... But I've seen how they get treated by all those women. It's not pretty (but it's fun!)

Vix...have you attended before?

I also could not find a $$$ figure for the weekend....any idea of the cost?

My wife really wants to go...so I am canvassing all my hunting connections to find someone to go with her....however...If I know them at all...they will be asking me for a price

Thanks for the update

I have attended this event several times. The last year I attended was 2004 so it's been a few years. I tried to attend last year, but the event was sold out before I was registered.

The last time I participated I believe it cost just under $200. I don't know what the cost is be this year yet. It's also good to bring some extra $ along for 50/50 draws, auctions, and raffles.

The times I participated there were quite a number of clinics to choose from, an opening banquet dinner with wine on the tables, good entertainment, and good camaraderie. It's awesome watching women having a chance to try things they'd never done before - shooting guns and bows, fishing, canoeing, calling game, reading maps and compasses, building fires, discovering edible wild plants, learning emergency survival skills... it helps when they see other women discovering new skills too.

If your wife doesn't know anyone else at the event, it will likely only take her a short time to connect with a pile of new friends.

If there are women from this area that are thinking of attending but don't want to go without knowing someone, we could arrange to meet for coffee (or a 3d shoot! ) sometime before so we'll recognize some familiar faces at the event.

Should have a mens only weekend, oh wait that would be shovenistic and discriminatory. Maybe not a good idea! :) :)

Remember when you were a kid and your Mom would say...."Every day is Children's Day".......

Just about every hunting gathering is a men-only event. :D Not that women wouldn't be allowed (although I know some where we wouldn't be!) but women usual don't feel comfortable in those situations.

I'm sure it will be fun (with or without Pyd, TPM and John W).
