Connected on a yote this morning

Post by schnarrfuss »

My brother downed this coyote this morning. After a couple tries and some misses we finally downed a deer killer. We have been after a pack of about 7 yotes at the farm we hunt. Called 3 into my possition this morning, but they busted me when I was surprized by them. Ran across the field infront of my brother and he missed the first, but he regrouped and litterally rolled the second with his 25-06. I got a shot at one also, but it is a hard running target. Missed two yesterday but they were 400 yards out.
The best part of this story is my brother wonders why he can hit a coyote at a full run, but missed 3 deer this year much closer. Two with his Excal and one with a muzzleloader. LOL

Good going!

Much as I like dogs, I believe that we could do with less coyotes around here. They seem to have increased dramatically the last few years.

There are way to many around this year. The farmer wants them all gone. It was a great day to be out. Seen about 15 deer today, five of which were bucks still carrying headgear. Also visited with the farmer and gave him his "gift bag of goodies" from the three of us. The least we can do to show our graditude for using his land.

Way to go. Nice Yote. Is that a Mountain Rifle or a CDL?

It is a Mountain Rifle. Nice little gun for carrying around. I love the Remington Model 700 series.

Way to go! I was told of an article in the Hamilton Spectator about no limits on yotes. Dont know if there usually is or not. But the numbers are way up. It good to have a balance of everything, but mother nature often does not work that way. I personally would like to get out there and take out a few of these fawn killers.
