Filled my Doe tag
My wife and Kelly went to Fayetteville NC yesterday afternoon, they wanted to see Kelly again but thats another story.I had 2 doctor's App's before renting a car for them.Stressful day so I decided to go hunting for the evening and relax.
I got all my gear together and opened the front door - RAIN - HARD.
I decided to go anyway, something was telling me to go.
I stalked my blind and got setteled in.
It continued to rain and the temp plumeted from the 60's to about 50 BBRRRR (a little poke at my northern brothers)
My shooting lane is 168 yards.
I caught movement at the end of the cut and followed 3 does into about 150 and the largest doe presented a shot.
I used the Browning A Bolt Medallion 270 LH with BOSS (not ported) that Ray gave me last August I think it was.It has a BSA 3x9x50 on it.
Thanks for the rifle Ray,I love it.First LH bolt action I've ever owned. I used a 150 grain Remington core loc bullet.
I shot off a Nikon Tripod with shooting stick attatchment,Rock steady.
I chose a neck shot to save more meat.
BOOM - FLOP. She weighed about 100 lbs
In the ground blind the black clothing on top is working great.
I looked back from the kill site and the inside of the blind was a black hole.
Pay no attention to the goofy look on my face.
I drug the deer to the blind for pictures and had to go back to the Jeep for the camera, then back in for pic's.
I was exhausted.Setting the camera timer and trying to get there in time.
Looks like I have the deer in the headlights look.
The blind is a GroundMax brand. It is roomy enough for two adults but noisy to operate as far as opening a window for a shot,I dont think it could be done with the combo of zippers and velcro.I get everything set and leave it that way.
Got it at a garage sale for $10,brand new, they couldn't figure out how to open it.
Don't I look sexy in my compression fit top? and check out the Horizontal Hunter hat.
This may sound stupid but when I kill a deer and I thank my lord for the bounty I always think about the generations of hunters that have come and gone before me and wonder how many times this scene has played out.The hunter walking up to his/her game and thanking their God for his blessings and then families sharing in the kill and the many meals it will provide.
Don't know about anyone else but that just kind of gets to me each time.
I feel connected with anyone who has taken a knee next to the kill.
I hope it continues for many more Gernerations as there are those who would take this from us.
The meat was donated to two families within the hour of the pic's being taken.
(This deer was killed on private land using an antlerless deer tag. picture and number available on request)
