How to remove old string?

Post by mattones »

I just picked up a exocet 165 with carved tips. Its in need of a new sting. I watched the VHS tape it just showed how to put the string on the bow and not how to remove it.

If anyone can help me that would be awesome!

Use the stringing device, Cock it. The limbs are held flexed but the string is loose. Basically the reverse off the video.

Every time you kill a coyote an angel gets a set of wings. OK, I made that up. But it should be the case.

use the stringer. If you dont have one watch this video it shows how to put a string on without the stringer. Just do it in reverse.

Sounds like you might be short a rope cocker too. They not only cut the effort in half, they center the string for you which is critical to good accuracy.

Your stringing aid will have a plastic sleeve on it which I believe is to make it easier on your hands. If you slide it out of the way, you can use your new rope cocker in conjunction w/ it to change strings.

Glad you made it 'over' here, these guys are experts on Excals.

+1 Ditto that advice - it Mag-Tip limbs also increase your choices as to what strings to use.

Awesome video. Oscar worthy performance! Is it true that the camera can add two sizes to your feet?

You forgot to take your old string...let me know if you want it or if I should just toss it.

That bow is in great condition for a 10-year-old. :)

Oh thats right I did opps! It can be thrown out. I doubt i'll have any use for it again?

Thanks again Stash for all your help! Should be shooting it tomorrow for a few hours. :P

After a few days of shooting it i think ill remove the string for the rest of the winter and give the limbs a rest.
