Same goes with so called Sportsman shows. Let the manufacturers and organizers pay to entice me into spending my dollars on their products.

Ever notice that if you turn down a subscription to your local newspaper they will practically almost deliver it for free...........

I agree.
We used to not have cable and just a few channels but it was getting better, then HBO came for pay but there were no commercials
Now we pay a primium price for commercials.
I understand it takes money for the infastructure and all but dang!!!

Here, they monitor what you watch for a few months and then they tell you those shows arent available in that package anymore but for $10 more a month you can have them, plus tax's of course

We're still on bunny ears here... we get just one channel clear enough to watch (CTV 13). We've recently been talking about going to satellite. On one hand I'd love to be able to stay tuned in to some of my favourite shows, but on the other hand I hate to pay money to spend time doing nothing... I'm torn.

All you Roger's customers, brace yourself. Just got a flyer in the mail. Effective March 1, 2009, Roger Cable rates are going up.

Here's a few monthly rates:
  • Basic Cable $28.49 to $29.99
    Cable Plus $15.59 to $16.49
    Extended Basic $53.98 to $56.48
Vip Digital Cable $61.97 to $64.97
Digital VIP Ultimate Plus Movies $98.95 to $103.95
I remember when cable first came out, it was only $3.50 a month

Prior to cable, after the cost of a antenae. TV was free.

If you get a $100/month cell phone plan with them then add a $50/month internet plan and a $30/month magazine subscription you'll become a VIP Member. Becoming a VIP will save you roughly $3/month.

Reason for re-classification and increase in price...

Post by hockeyfodder »

The free part is exactly why the price has gone from 2.50 to 6.95.
When everyone was watching for free they know how much time and how many people are tuned in.
They price it according to what they think they can get.
I look forward to day I dump Rogers...they put promotions on and when you are not watching your bill they will start charging you for what is supposed to be free...then it takes 45 minutes and endless punching of keys on your phone to get to a live operator to try to get it straightened out.
WOW I feel better now that I have vented...

I have it on Star Choice as well. And I might add, I watch it way to much.
But it beats alot of the other crap on TV.
