Welcome to the forum.

The Equinox is surely a speedster. It generates an awful lot of energy, which in turn places a higher demand on all the components, especially if you use a lighter arrow. Excaliburs are built tough and can generally take it. However, there is a reason that the 150gr b'heads are part of the standard package. With the Equinox, using arrows with a heavier total weight you'll notice that it shoots smoother, quieter and with less wear and tear.

However, if speed's your thing, you'll have to except a little extra wear and tear.

Yepper. Was curious bout the boo string. if theres a loss in speed but somewhat quieter. The equinox is awfully loud but at that speed theres lil chance of the deer jumpin the string at extreme ydge. (last pin at 55 yds on verizone scope. dead on btw)
Hunter at heart, fish in the off deer season. Month of Feb i have off from the outdoors, wife always wants chores then. She's a sportsman's widow

Even though I make my own strings, I have two Boo strings, one with and one without whiskers. Let me tell you, the Boo string is a phenomenal piece of work.

Speedwise, when compared with the factory FFF string, the one without whiskers is perhap a few fps faster, whereas the one with whiskers might be bit slower.

With an Equinox, even though the a whiskered Boo string will make it quieter, it will still be loud, there's no such thing as a quiet hunting crossbow, especially an Equinox/Exomax. The only way to make it a bit quieter is to use heavier arrows. Your speed will decrease, but so will the wear and tear.
