I'll be hunting in Kentucky with my 870.

IF I kill my first one then I'll switch over to the crossbow for my second Kentucky bird and my Indiana bird.

Got to get at least one under my belt first.

I'm with woody on this one.
The first will fall to a 3.5" #5 out of the 835 ulti-mag and then I will try the bow.

Crossbow turkey

Post by kyteach »

That's the only way I plan to hunt my first one. Could have got one last year but used shotgun. After this deer season and my first deer with my Exomax, I know I have the accuracy to kill a turkey, especially from my blind. By the way, you just cant beat Big John's Turkey calls. Have had great success with his calls.

same as the other guys frist one i hope will fall to a 12 ga with a custom load of 4x5x6 nitros and the onto the crossbow. but my problem will be what to do. the crappie are spawning aournd our turkey time and so are the bream. so it make it hard forme to choose on what to do one the weekends.

if i find a place to hunt them i will be using my winchester 120 then my phoenix for my second one. so far the old shotgun has killed ducks, geese, grouse, deer, bear and moose so turkey has got to be next on the list

I will be trying to take all three birds with my Phoenix this year. Where I will be hunting will be inside the city limits where I live and no firearms are allowed. It gives me a good excuse to hunt with my Phoenix all season. During deer season I found several good spots where they roost and feed and am excited for turkey season to hurry up and get here.
