Thank you enormous!

With a 150 grain head and factory string I'm guessing my Exocet will be shooting somewhere between 300 and 310 fps. Is that a fair guess?

Yes, right around 305 fps after the string settles in a bit and stretches some. A string that settles near the lower scribed line will yield a slightly faster speed, but with slightly more noise. A string adjusted near the top line (closer to the scope) is quieter but costs a few of fps. After string break-in remove the string and twist it to maintain your prefered sweet spot. Hope that helps.

My Relayer Y25 (same power stroke as the Exocet 200) does a 454 grain hunting arrow at 308 fps.
Is that with Gads custom string or the factory one?

Don't worry too much about being stuck with using a red dot. Even a single dot is very effective if you learn your bow's trajectory & sight-in accordingly.
I sight my main crosshair on my Vari-Zone scope at 25 yards on my Phoenix. That way a center of the kill zone hold with put the arrow through the vitals of any deer within 30 yards. No need to worry about the exact range or using the yardage marks in the scope, just keep shots within 30 yards - put the crosshair in the center of the kill zone & the deer will be dead (as long as you do your part in the aim & squeeze the trigger sequence).
wabi....awesome post! I may take this very approach since it seems to follow the KISS method. I resemble the last "S" a lot of times....especially when trying to outsmart deer. I can't wait to get home and start playing with my new toy.
This past season was the first I really tried out the system. I missed a deer opening day due to a scope failure (TenPoint scope) so I stuck a regular riflescope on the Phoenix so I could hunt until I was able to get a VariZone scope. I simply sighted in a 25 yards, then checked where the arrow hit at ranges out to 30 yards. Up close I hit a few inches high, but still easily in a deer sized kill zone, out at 30 I was a little low, but again in the kill zone. It worked so well I just sighted the main crosshairs of the VariZone and stuck with the system.
I simply put markers (old dead tree limbs, and other natural brush) around my stands and blinds at 30 yards for a distance reference. If a deer was inside the markers it was good to take a shot if I wanted to. I only shot 2 deer, but both were quickly down, with good double lung hits.
There's enough to think about when a deer is that close, and eliminating the worry of the exact yardage makes it easier for me.
BTW - with the VariZone scope I have the 10 yard marks in the reticle, and they are still on at 10 yard intervals, it just 15 - 25 - 35.... instead of 10 - 20 - 30......, so if I want to target shoot I can still hit small targets out to 55 yards.

it depends on which string you use on your bow.. with the FFF string and a 430grain setup it would be in the 305 range

with the excel string it would be in the 280-290 range roughly with that 150grain head

the excalibur speed rating is reached with the FFF string and a 350grain arrow just so you know for future reference

Thanks crazy....I only have the string that came with the bow and the extra one from the accessory package so I have the excel string. I was just wondering my speed so I could utilize the arrow performance charts.

I get the impression reading around on this forum that you make arrows for some people. Could you give me more information in this thread or PM me when you have time? I probably don't need any right now but I'd like to know where to find good ones when the time does come.
