As much as I would like to vote for my own picture and win a prize, I think RJ's pictures are always magazine quality. I know how to clean a deer up and make him look nice and shiney looking, but RJ has a talent that I can't match.

1st place RJ.

We have another close race with several well composed entries.
First place would have to R.J., the one with his gurney.
In no particular order I'd give the following honourable mentions:
Unclefester
Buckstopper
Fish-n-Hunter
Woody Williams ~ 1st Turkey Bird
Jeeptag

Good luck to everyone.

OK . . .after much deliberation . . .

I give my vote to Jeeptag . . .I can relate to those city dwellers having to shoot those big fat does out of their rose gardens. Nice set up!

I also liked fishnbugdudes' picture. Catcher's picture is awesome too. Rich's, if the slug gun was a crossbow. And, of course I liked RJ's, but, I consider him more of a professional cameraman with a gun instead of a hunter who happens to remember to bring along his camera because there's a contest. Therefore, I was a little harder on him when judging . . .sorry RJ.

There was a lot more thought went into these pictures this year. Using the kids and the dogs. The use of the snow to cover up the wounds. The props in the background/foreground. The use of the flower garden. Very creative group of folks here.

Boo . . .you are turning a group of hunters into very good photographers!

I went through all the pictures again and there are some great shots. One that caught my eye the first time I saw it was the frenchmen's grouse. Loved the backdrop and the sharpness of the photo. I'm a sucker for something different, so he gets my vote.

Below is my vote for "best picture".

There are many wonderful pictures in the 2008 Trophy Room, taken by a bunch of good guys who enjoyed some very special hunts. Many are technically good photos; some feature outstanding trophies; many others have qualities of interest that make them special, or an account of the hunt that's interesting ... but to me, one picture stood out above the rest.

Why?

I believe a picture tells a story, and although I know that many of our members worked hard to get their critter this year, I was most impressed with one man's story among the many we shared in the past season.

I believe that throughout the 2008 season, our friend Saxman prevailed against some pretty adverse circumstances and managed to overcome the odds and have a very successful season nonetheless, through careful effort and sheer force of will ... and I think his picture reflects that.

Throughout it all, Sax shared his situation with us and leaned on us as he worked to make the season work ... and showed us that it isn't that you have troubles in life that counts ... it's how you face up to those troubles.

To me, Sax has boosted the image of all us hunters.

Congratulations, Sax ... and thanks for sharing.

So, in honor of Saxman's 2008 effort and example to us all, I choose this one:

Grizzly by name but not by association I vote the same!

Looking at all the pictures my thought was first and foremost that the 2008 trophy room is about the hunt. If you happen to win a photo contest in celebration of your harvest then that's a bonus. All I see is people proud of their achievement. Congratulations to all!

None in my opinion demonstrates this as clearly than the photo Of Saxman with his trophy. It meets all the criteria set forth by the contest. The human side of the story brings it over and above the rest.

Peach gets my vote.

I feel for those who brave the cold snowy days to sit patiently in waiting. It takes courage. Nice pic, nice deer, nice smile, nice day, Happy to get warmed up in the car no doubt.

There are soooo many other good ones I won't even start to mention them.

Very good photos and memories all around guys and gals. Congratulations to you all.
