Who Else Is Pumped For Turkeys?

Post by DropTine »

I cant take it anymore! I took a drive out to my hunting grounds and seen tons of birds! More longbeards than jakes! I cant wait!

I had my B-Mobile out in the TV room yesterday cleaning him up and touching up the fan while watching Primos The Truth 18, getting pumped for the season. I left for 5 mins to grab a coffee at the local timmies and when I walk in, I see a trail of feathers leading up to a shredded tom fan I made into a jake fan! My German Shorthaired Pointer got into it!!!!! Oh well, its back to the silk fan until I get some real feathers again.

You bet I'm excited. I plan on getting some turkey-related goodies at the Sportsmens show next week, then time to scout and hit the range until the 27th of April rolls around!

Pumped is right!!!
Bought a new shotgun this year and last weekend finally went out to pattern it.
I am using a full choke, may step up for a turkey choke.

I tried #6 turkey loads copper plated(2oz) & # 4 copper plated(1 3/8oz), not sure what is better. Both had 10-12 hits in the head and neck.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Yessss!! im pumped, but i also dont understand the MNR in Ontario they are opening up all these new WMU's to hunt and a fall turkey hunt , BUT yet they dont let the season open up on the 25th of April and include that weekend, i think the whole bunch of them are the blind leading the blind .

Well i gotta be honest as im not excited about turkey hunting yet.I found a new passtime that has taken my focus off of the spring turkey hunt.
I started coyote hunting this winter and i gotta tell you its a real hoot.I began calling without much luck and a few spolied opportunities.I also hunt with a group of guys and hounds and well thats the cats a**.
Ive never seen so many turkeys/deer in my life as ive seen while coyote hunting.
I had a flock of turkeys 20 yards from me and honestly i lost count how many there were because a herd of deer were heading my way. There were about 20 deer in this herd,,,whatta sight. We had a coyote following the herd of deer as he was taken the easiest way outta dodge and im sure tryiing to throw the pack of hounds off of his scent,,crafty bugger.
Ok i lied im really buggin to turkey hunt this year.
