Gorilla glue insert removal?

Post by DuckHunt »

Can carbon arrow inserts glued in with Gorilla glue be removed? Are their any tricks? I've heard this stuff is just about permanent.

I would say no you will break the bolt first.

Try screwing in an old field tip and heating it (I use an alcohol lamp). When you see the slightest whisp of smoke, grasp with pliars and twist gently. if it give, twist out gently. If you don't heat enough some of the carbon wrap will come out with the insert. That arrow is toast.

I tried a lot of things and nothing got the gorilla loose . . .if you get it out . . .please let me know how you did it.
I'd rather wear out than rust out.

I have a problem with inserts pulling out of the layered plastic block targets. The targets are wall sized for competition archery shooting. Some of my bolts really heat up and effect the 2-part epoxy or hot glue. My Excalibur Exomax and max point really sink the bolts in. I have to use the Dan Miller pilers to break the bolts from the block targets and pull the bolts. These plastic layered block targets melt from thr heat generated from fast crossbow bolts especially the carbon bolts.

Will the hot melt glue sticks work for me ? I am getting very tried of replacing inserts and field points. I think over time the epoxy and hot glue break down.

Try spraying the arrows with Jig A Loo (from Home Depot or Lowes) to make em pull out easier.

if anyone uses goat tuff, they shouldnt ever have to worry about a insert pulling out;)

but as said, i use a fieldtip heated. Just be careful not to over heat and damage the shaft. Also, pull and twist GENTLY as said
