For those who are chasing turkeys with a shotgun, what are you using for ammo? Shot size? Shot weight? Drams EQ?

I've been patterning my Mossberg 535 with 3" Federal Mag-Shok High Velocity in 12 gauge #5's (1300 fps Dram 4.19).

The pattern seems better than with the Winchester Supreme loads.

With the stock extra full choke its looking good to 40 yds......

What does the Dram rating mean anyways?

I just recently installed a Remington 870 ShurShot Stock and Forend on her. Picked it up from Cheaper Than Dirt.

This is a close up of how I have my Simmons 2X ProDiamond mounted on the barrel rib of my 870.

That is a cantilever that mounts onto the rib of the barrel. Also known as a "rib mount".

It is a Remington part..

This is my turkey/Illinois deer gun. I have two barrels for it. Both have cantilever mounts on them. The deer barrel is a full cantilever and a rifled barrel. This one is cantilever rib mount on a field barrel.

I just swap barrels as the appropriate seasons come along. With the scope on the barrel they never lose their zero.

I use a Rhino .660 two inch extended choke.

I use an 870 super Magnum Turkey. Undertaker XF choke, and Federal Premium #4 flight control Turkey loads. Don't know if I'll be out this season or not

i shot the fedarel flight control # 5s 3.5 inch from a mossy 535 turkey .it has killed many birds for me i also have a red dot on it DUTCH

Drams refers to the way they used to measure blackpowder charges way back. When smokeless powder came along "Drams Equiv" was used so as not to confuse those who only thought in blackpowder terms. It basically means the smokeless powder will create the same pressure as the given blackpowder charge. 110+ years later the industry still uses this archaic term. Some things die hard.

Winchester Xtended turkey loads. They are expensive. $45 for 10 shells, but they pattern great out of my Win 1300 and pack a mean punch

How do you like the 535? I've heard they may be a little unfriendly to shoot due to recoil in a lighter gun.

I use 870 remington sps turkey 23 inch barrel thumbhole stock 3.5 inch 12 guage though a undertaker choke.675 constriction.I shoot 3.5 HEVI-SHOT #6.Shoots nice pattern well past 40 yards.I will send pictures when my computer expert get's home from her work.( my daughter)Thanks.
