Toronto Police Dogs

Post by Boo »

Toronto is now using Springers for drug work. Here's the email from my buddy. I just thought this would be of some interest. Keno was a great dog, he would slip out of the kayak, try to grap the paddle and swim around the other side and get in. Too funny!

out to school children]
- they have ordered 7 more over the next 2 years -

Are they using Springers because they've got particularly keen noses, or because of their temperament ... or because of a combination of traits?

Don't know much about Spaniels. :)

That plus they are more eager to please, easier to handle, easier to keep in the handler's homes and do not intimidate the public.

There is one dog you can't have. She's called Emmy Lou Harris, smart as a whip, a real biddable, butt wagging, great running dog, she's mine for when my old baby Babe Ruthy goes and waits for me at the gates.

Only problem with springers is they have to keep 'em on a leash, Don. Otherwise they'd make nice to the perp too!
Lovinest dogs I've ever had the pleasure to own. Molly and Meg, best furry friends a guy could as for.
