South West Michigan

Post by DForester »

I am from SW Michigan and very excited about this approaching deer season. I have not been able to hunt for the past three years. I was a dedicated bow hunter who lost interest. 4 years ago I was engage to my wife and life has been a whirlwind since then, and I would not change a thing. I now have a son bought 20 acres currently building a house and pole barn and tearing down the old farm house. I also have another son on the way due 9-9-09 at 9 oclock.
What happened to me was I did not have the time to dedicate to my bow. I wounded a deer due to my own lack of practice three years ago and hung my bow up and have not touched is since. I know with my son and the new house project I will not have the time to dedicate to archery season once again. But now I have purchased a new equinox and am looking forward to the accuracy and getting out this year and feeling confident on making a clean humane shot. Hopefully on one of the many monsters that frequent my property. I have some nice pictures and am looking forward to posing them as soon as figure it out.
I guess what I am getting at it the crossbow has made it possible to enjoy a sport that I love once again and it fits my lifestyle, I am not a shotgun hunter and never going to be one. I am very happy about the new law here in Michigan and look forward to writing the DNR and telling my story.

Welcome Don, lot of good folks here. I also live in Michigan. Congrats on the family and the property. Glad you're back into Archery.

A clean, humane shot.

That is the same reason I was so happy to see Michigan let me use a crossbow. I started losing strength the last 2 years and felt sad when bow season started because I knew I'd go out and not take a shot because I wasn't confident I could make a killing shot. Now I can practice as long as I want to.

I know how you feel!

Genesis 27:3 Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison
Acts 11:7 I also heard a voice saying to me, 'Get up, Peter; kill and eat.'
