PA may lose full crossbow inclusion

Post by mikej »

got this from another forum

I wanted to start a new thread so as many people as possible see this. There is a real possibility that we lose full inclusion for this fall. Commissioner Weaner is trying to turn back the clock and undo what was voted on and passed. He does have some support for this and it could happen. If he gets what he is proposing we would only be able to hunt the first two weeks of archery with crossbow. If you have a medical permit you could hunt all of the season. Contact the Board of Commissioners now and tell them to let things be and go to sunset date as agreed to. There might be thousands of new crossbow enthusiasts in for a shock if Weaner gets his way.

I'm looking for contact email addresses. I will post when I find them.

Also, HB 965 would change the definition of a bow to include the crossbow. Having the PA legislature involved is not the best option but this BOC will apparently hold the crossbow issue hostage for some time. Contact the PA Game and Fisheries Committee members for info. on this option

Commissioner Weaner would be tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail if he was able to pull that off.

Way too many people have bought crossbows and are just waiting for the season to open..

But, it would not hurt to contact the commissioners..

To be on the safe side I would recommend that we send an email to this address...

The contact email is - [email protected]

Send your views there and they will be forwarded to the Game Commissioners.

I don't think it matters where a person lives that wants to give input on this.

E-mail sent. Hope they listen to reason and use common sense.
crossbow hunting is a win-win for everyone.
One day compound hunters will get old too and use a crossbow
or just quit and give up hunting. :(

as much hassle as they went through to pass this, I cant see them turning the clock back and doing away with it. Thats just plain stupid if they try and do that.

Hmmm..... maybe this is not a done deal..

This is what I got back...

At the April meeting, Commissioner Ron Weaner asked for the staff to prepare a proposed agenda item for the July meeting to address four points:

1) Maintain the crossbow permit system;

2) Prohibit the use of crossbows in the archery bear season, except for those with a disabled person permit to use a crossbow in place of a bow;

3) Permit the use of crossbows for the first 12 days (2 weeks – 2 Saturdays) of the archery deer season; and

4) Allow the use of crossbows during the 7-day early muzzleloader season in October and the late flintlock season with the purchase of a muzzleloader stamp.

The staff will develop the proposal for the Board to consider.

Yeah ... take note of the inflammatory language and bad attitudes on that forum. What a terrible shame ... that sort of behavior gives sportsmen everywhere a black eye. :( :evil:
