sts

Post by 7magman »

hello eveyone,
i'm a newbee to crossbows and have gotten alot of good info from reading posts on this site, thanks. i was wondering though about the sts for the crossbows and what advantages they give. i should mention that i have recently purchased a excal vortex and i am currently shooting goldtip lazer II with the brass inserts and 100 gr tips. i am still undecided if i will go with the scope seems to be alot of mixed reviews especially on the quality. any info on the sts and scopes will be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Welcome!

I have a vari-zone and a lumi-zone and love them both. I think it's the biggest advantage the crossbow has over a vertical bow. Once you try out a scope, it will be hard to turn back.

I also like my sts system. It just makes the shooting experience better.
I'd rather wear out than rust out.

WELCOME 7magman Image

I think I have tried every scope type made (for various weapons, not on crossbows) and I love the VariZone. Clean, simple and not too much magnification. I hear that the open sites that come with the Excaliburs are favored by many too. Glad you're here. You have a great bow.

ps. out of the box, only needed 2 clicks to zero.

I'm with Laura on the VariZone... I LOVE mine! It's rugged and has held up well to quite a bit of well, lets call it "jostling".  Gives me more than enough light and I don't have to worry about carrying spare batteries.

Welcome,

I have the lumizone, but will probably be trading with a buddy for his varizone...I have not once turned the red crosshairs on, and find it a waste of money (personally). I did outfit the bow with the sts system and a Boo custom string....now it is nice and quiet, and deadly accurate. My advice is to shoot with a scope, these things are so bang on that you can only appreciate the accuracy with a scope.

I use the varizone and have no complaints.

I also think the NGSS system is the way to go.

Welcome to the forum! I have owned 2 lumizones and have had one varizone with no problems. If excalibur recommends it, you know it aint crap. There was a problem with the early lumi's, but they have that all cleared up now, and if you get one of the old batch then you still have warranty.
