Finally, a bird! - more pics

Post by VixChix »

Up just after 3 a.m. Headed out to the woods. I'd been out at one location before daylight this morning. Heard and saw nothing. Not too long after sunrise Kevin (DoeMaster) arrived after working night shift and decided we should try another woods. While we walked through, Kevin would call once in a while to see if we could get a gobble. We eventually did. Quickly sat down and in no time this guy strutted down the trail looking for a date. The bird came in to Kevin's calls like it was on a string. Was so cool to see him displaying and hear him gobbling! Took advantage of the first opportunity for a good shot - 17 yds or so. Bird down. From the first gobble to the shot was probably less than 5 minutes. Was a great way to spend the morning! :) THANKS DOEMASTER!

22 lbs, 9 1/2" beard, 3/4" spurs.

(...and no, that is not "bling" on my gun... I bought it that way!)

:D You`s are right it WAS a two year old .He ain`t going to get any older now . Vix is right he was looking for love in all the wrong places . I was walking and casting calls in good spots to sit . Then all of a sudden he responded from maybe 100 yards .A VERY quick set up and he practically ran in . Moni got to see him strut, gooble but missed the spitting and drumming .She was seeing it but didn`t realize that is what he was doing .I don`t know who was happier me or her .
Best payment I could ever get is to see her smile from ear to ear , a hug and a thank you . :D
