A day with Groundpounder
I got to meet groundpounder today.
He and his wife were in town for a few days and after some phone tag we got together this morning.
We went down to the ocean where we could drive the Jeep on and we found a dead sea turtle.
It has rained almost non stop for 3 days with gale force winds and high seas.
We went to breakfast and then to my hunting lease.
After a while we saw a hen turkey in the road
We rode all over the place and I think we covered the entire 4,600 acres.
Did a little mud boggin. We saw 3 more turkeys,we went places I have never been to on the property and found some great hunting spots.
We then headed back to the hard road (after I figured out where I was) and made a quick trip to Jacksonville to visit a major retail sporting goods store (GM)we looked around for a while and traded opinions on equipment,GP knows his stuff.
We went out to my Jeep to head back and Todd presented with the most beautiful, handmade, custom hunting knife.I was so suprised.
The blade was priviously an industrial hacksaw blade in a drop point configuration. It measures 3.5" and is 1/16" thick and full tang
The liners are brass and meticulosly fitted.
It has brass pins and Mule Deer Scales which are 4 & 7/8.
This next picture shows the beautiful color.
I will treasure this knife and it will find a place in my trophy cabinet, after it butchers a few deer.
Meeting Todd and spending the day with him was a pleasure.
He is a gentelman and an ethical hunter who cares about our environment and the critters in it.I can tell he respects his fellow man and is one of those guys that just does the right thing because it's right.
Todd,I'll share deer or Elk camp with you anytime. We should try to make that happen. My home is open to you and your wife.
P.S. It's pouring again.

It has been said numerous times that this forum is like a family. Members are so willing to drive hundreds of miles to introduce themselves to other members and share a special moment like this.

I had a great time meeting Scott too! When my wife first mentioned of a business trip to Amelia Island my first reply was "hey, I have a friend that lives down there I'll go". So right away I tried to set in motion the chance to meet "Saxman". When we first met in the grociery store parking lot he said now theres a familiar face. I commented the same but pictures on the forum do not give a perspective on height. Anybody know that Scott is 6' 7" tall? But to say that Scott is just as friendly and welcoming in person as he is here on the forum. We talked of how we both would like to meet others from the forum and know that one day that will come. My only regret on the trip is that we were not able to meet up sooner for a lack of poor phone signal that hampered our meet. We definitely did not have a lack of conversation and know we could have swapped stories for days. Scott thanks so much for sharing your time and showing me around. Looking forward to it again someday.
Why ride when you can walk!
The pleasure was mine Todd.
I believe we could go for days and I would love for so many other forum members there to share theirs.
If I ever win the lottery,it WILL happen.
Thanks again for that beautiful knife,it will soon go to a master sheath maker in Texas for a scabbard after some time on the warthog.
Unless anyone on the forum makes sheaths I will use them, this knife deserves more than my skills.

Awesome that you guys met and had a great time! I feel a bit spoiled living in Southern Ontario, home of a good number of our members. It's always a pleasure to get together with the fine people on this forum whether it's for a formal get together or just a casual visit and yak session. Would love to head south of the border sometime and meet a few of our American friends.
BTW, that is one awesome knife! Todd has some great talents. I'm sure it's something you will cherish for years to come.
