Fishing trip 09

Post by Pydpiper »

Went fishing with a couple buddies this weekend, on the Ottawa river. It was a first for me, but these two have been doing it for about 30 years. They knew the right spots on this massive chunk of river, the derby was mostly composed of locals up there, we ended up having a lot of fun!
Our cottage was on the river, out the back door was the deck, it over hung the water.
We ended up catching a pile of Pickerel, pike and catfish. We had to throw a bunch of the pickerel back to due a slot size in effect, the big ones all went back in to the water.
In two locations one side of the boat was bringing in these huge cats averaging around 2 lbs each (5.5lbs won the derby) on one side of the boat, the pickerel came off the other..
The land mass off the deck is a huge island, it is actually in Quebec, we were in Ontario.
It is always good to spend time laughing with friends, and we did a whole lot of that!

Not sure exactly where I was Mike, the derby was called "10th ANNUAL ALLU-CAT MANIA"

Wow, that's a great view. Looks like the fishing wasn't to shabby either.

I'd probably fish alot more than I do if I fished there. :D

ALLU-CAT MANIA.....That's gotta be Allumette Island area.

Up the river some from here, and yes, it's nice country.
