Target filler

Post by Cossack »

Just tried some interesting target filler: playground mulch made from pieces of dyed rubber. Put two bags into a nylon mesh feed sack. Stops my Phoenix cold and best of all arrows pull out with two fingers. Going to test more with Vortex and the Cyclone but early results look very promising.
From Menard's, less than $9.00 a bag.

Tell us more about the window screen as filler, dutch. What kind of screen, plastic, metal? How do you arrange it in bag? How much is used?

Feed sacks filled with plastic bags, packed real tight, works for my Phoenix but the 355 fps compound blows right through them if it hit close to where another arrow hit.

Free broadhead target

Post by Ibex »

This target really works, stops broadheads cold, and is free.

Simply fill a cardboard box with old clothes or rags and fire a broadhead at it.

The only drawback is that it is difficult to remove the broadhead. I leave the top of the box open so I can carefully pull the fabric away from the broadhead.

Works. Used two nylon grain sacks, one inside the other, filled with 2 bags of rubber mulch, tied top and suspended from tripod made of small trees. Tied down sides of bag to front legs of tripod to keep target from spinning. Stops the Vortex cold at 20 yard when hit in thickest part (middle). Arrow removal take just 2 fingers. Cost $20.00.
