Dogs taking on Doe . . .
My cousin's girlfriend took these shots and was kind enough to get me copies. They were taken in the spring of 2007, I think. They were supposed to be published, but, I'm not sure if they made it to print or not. So, it's possible you have seen these. Let me know if you have.
Anyway, my cousin's girlfriend had these two fawns born in the hayfield behind her house. They were discovered when her Dad cut the field. She decided to take the photo opportunity. She went into the field and crawled into the front end loader on the tractor figuring the deer would not mind her there. Planned worked well except for her two dogs. They decided to follow her.
Here's what took place. Momma deer didn't like the dogs around her fawns and chased them until they were totally worn out and went home.
Isn't that one proud Momma? I thought I had more shots . . .anyway, you get the idea.

I'd rather wear out than rust out.

Thanks Bob and everyone . . .I wish I could capture pictures like that. I'll have to let her know they were appreciated by all.bstout wrote:Those are some very good pictures, Scott.
It's pretty amazing if you think about it. This doe had just given birth to twins a few hours earlier. These guys are probably less than 6 hours old, don't you think? She said they were still a little wobbly as they were walking out of the hay field. Sheer luck that her Dad saw them too. He stopped the combine a few feet before disaster.
Anyway, that's some incredible footwork for something that just gave birth to twins.
Poor dogs . . .they had no idea what they were walking into . . .wrong place at the wrong time.
