I used Mad Dogs finned grips for rifles mounted to my front dry box.

ATV Front Box?

Post by Dave1 »

What brand/model box is that mounted on the front rack of the ATV? Is it a sturdy rigid box?

A link would help.

I went to the bowcaddy website ( http://www.bowkaddy.com/Products.htm ) and looked at the product. I am curious as to how this works on an ATV and holding a recurve crossbow like our Excaliburs as this holder functions by securing the limbs rather then the stock and forearm like a rifle holder. There is so much weight associated with the stock extending away from the limbs that affixing the device to the limbs and suspending the stock looks to me like it might place undue stress on the limbs.

I know I go through some pretty rough places and bounce the Honda Rubicon around pretty good with the Excalibur on the front secured in my rifle holders. I can only imagine what would happen using the bowkaddy design and the torque that would be placed on the crossbow limbs.

Am I missing something on how this would work with a crossbow?

It's a Tamarack / Quad Trunk, it's made in Sherwood Park Alberta Canada. Yes it is a sturdy rigid box. It is held on by bunji cords on the side as you can see in the pics but I use an extra one over the top in the middle (only when I the bow or rifle on) to hold the box tighter but if you were to bolt the box to the rack it would eliminate this issue.
