SASKATOON - Three young men are set to appear in court in Saskatoon today to face charges related to a recent YouTube video that created widespread public outrage.

In the video, a trio of males are seen cheering each other on as at least two of them use rifles to shoot ducks and ducklings on a prairie pond.

Gary Harrison of the Saskatchewan Environment Department says provincial and federal wildlife officers and the RCMP were able to figure out from watching the video the location of the shootings.

He also says the video led to an "unprecedented" number of phone calls to poacher tip lines in Saskatchewan and Alberta.

Three males in their 20s were arrested on Saturday.

They will face a variety of charges under provincial and federal wildlife laws.

It looks like the 2 men got $5000 and the third $6000 in fines and a ban from hunting.

WOW, just WOW, why even bother.

i think the penalties should have been much stiffer and should have carried a longer hunting ban. these people are NOT hunters they are poachers and should be treated as such . being unemployed should have no bearing on the end result.
