Im not sure what your doing supertuck, but lawnmower cord should be tough enough. BUT the excalibur cocking aid has two hooks for the bow string. The hooks have a roller for the string on the cocking aid. I beleive thats fairly important for a smooth draw

If its length your after, than excalibur sells a cocking aid with a longer section of cord that so that you can cut it to the length you want

The lengths are different from model of bow to the next as the rail lengths differ to get the higher poundage. Regardless of which model bow you have, most of us adjust the rope length so we have to pull the string back a few inches to get the 2nd hook on. This makes cocking easier and keeps the cocker on the bow.

So glad you posted this. My rope cocker seems way to short @ about 8" from the string which means I have to lift about 4" in order to hooK-up. Think I'll call Dan Miller today and see what he has to say. Maybe an exchange is in order (I did by the package from him last week).

Thank's about the length I have mine . . .works just fine. If you get it too long, then it's a pain to finish off the cocking because your arms/elbows finish too far back.
I'd rather wear out than rust out.
Perception trumps intention.

"Too short" is not a problem ... as long as you can get the second hook fastened. In fact it makes the string much easier to pull back. I PURPOSELY cut my ropes short (have to pull the string/second hook up 6-8"s) to assist my aching back. AND the cocker stays on the bow that way until bow is cocked so I don't have to hunt for it. Have used quality braided lawnmower cord for both cocker and crankaroo.

Mine is 35in inside handle to inside handle, use this on vortex and exomax, I'm tall so don't know if this will help or not?

Humm. Before calling Dan I'll ask my son how much effort it was/is to pull up and get the second hook on the string.

Believe I measured 28.5" between handles but will check again tonight.

Thanks...

thats the length i have mine too. i had it longer when i first got it so i wouldn't have to pull the string up at all, but found it to be way too long i wasn't able to cock it completely, by the time i reached the trigger with the string i had to more room left to pull. i am just to short. now i have it so i have to pull it up about 4 inches and it works great.
If guns cause crime, all of mine are defective

Yes, and not just for smooth feeling but for accuracy as well. I had one of the pulleys inside the hook bind up. It was making the claw want to pull to the outside. I had to try and aim or lean into the rail from that side in an attempt to make the claw ride along side the rail when cocking.

The hooks are very important to accuracy as well as the pulleys freely rotating inside the hooks. It only takes a moment to check. Grab the brass pulley with your fingers and make sure it rolls freely and I mean easy without any intermittent hang ups.
Seems like there is a good argument for having a spare rope cocker. Yes? No?

I have noticed my leftie, of course I did, but it seems to wander away from the rail as I pull. I looked at it closely and didn't see what makes it bind. But noticed it does. How does one loosen it up ?

I have been using 550 cord (military surplus parachute cord) for about the last 5 years. I adjusted the length so that it pulls the string up about an inch or so when on the bow before you pull it back. This is a comfortable length for me to cock the bow and you will want to adjust the length for whatever feels the most comfortable to you.

My original Excalibur string cocking aid has handles made by Briggs & Stratton with aluminum claws and brass rollers. It is still in service since about 94.
