loose screws

Post by vortex »

Started sighting in my new vortex yesterday. Thing were going great. At twenty yard first three shots were just of to the left (about an inch) and high (about 1.5"). Started adjusting elevation and windage and things got worse. I then noticed the scope was loose on the mount. Of course I had no allen keys with me to tighten so my day ended. I purchased my vortex from a dealer that had already assembled it. Never thought to check and tighten the screws. So I will tighten everything and lok tight them and try again next weekend.
Lesson Learned:
1) check all nut, bolts and screws
2) carry allen keys as part of equipment

Bummer!

I think you will really like the VariZone when you finally get it sighted in. I put mine on my bow and right out of the box it took 1 click at 20 yards and was good to go from then on. I was shocked when at 10 yards it was in the middle of the bullseye.

The scope mount screws seem to loosen most often. Loc tite those with a removable compound.

Perhaps the dealer left them loose on purpose figuring you'd need to make the final adjustment of level and eye relief. Perhaps the dealer then just forgot to tell you.

Best of luck with your CB.

Take care...

I have had that problem as well
Blue loc-tite on those screws.
I use string wax on the threads of all my other screws / bolts on the bow. They dont back out or rust on the threads.
