More on Melanistic Critters......

Post by Esox »

Melanistic and albino variations of animals are always interesting to me.....

A bunch of years back I shot a melanistic squirrel and I know that there's several areas here in NJ with populations of both melanistic and albino squirrels (like right in front of the State Capital Building in Trenton, NJ), but melanism in raccoons (like Woody posted) evidently is very rare....

While searching around for information on melanism in raccoons I found an interesting website on Best Places to Find Melanistic Deer.....

www.cryptomundo.com/cryptozoo-news/black-deer/

Check it out... Anybody know of any others?.....

Black squirrels are just the norm here, they eat my Tyme and Savory all the time, I wish I lived in the country I could get rid of them.
