I heve found if you put a heavy 1/8 inch gap between the string and the STS rubbers they last alot longer.. The progression of the string is foward so it does come in contact with the sts when firing

i like to hae about a 4th to a half inch between the string and bumpers at rest .this gives great bumper life and still catches the string and stops the twang .i am very happy with my sts from new guy very good product DUTCH
