A bittersweet time, I'm sure, Sax!

I hope she does well, and that the distance makes you even closer. :D

Be careful on the road, man! People are, well, you know! Drive safe! :P

Seems like only yesterday we were dropping off our daughter at Southern Illinois University. I remember how hard is was for me. A quarter of the way back home I turned to the Swede and said "Should we just turn around and go back and get her?"

Of course she did great and it was time for her to take flight.

Things changed a little after that day.

One thing didn't change and never will.

She is and always will be "daddy's little girl."

Daddy's little girl turns forty next year.

She is all moved into her dorm room and spending the night there and I will fly back tomorrow evening.
I go from Hartford to Washington DC then home.
Becca and her roommate looked so cute together setting up their room.
The campus buildings and grounds are beautiful.
I had forgotten how different the architecture is up here.
There are some OLD buildings on campus.
I'll post pic's when I get home.

It is time to let her do her thing and I believe she is ready, she has worked SO HARD to get a full scholarship to such a fine school. She has earned it.

I can be a force to be rekoned with if pushed to it and it's so funny how a daughter can melt me in a second and have me sobbing like a baby, and I have been,it breaks my heart to leave her here.

Just saw an interesting news article abut NOT letting go. Folks calling or texting their kids multiple times a day. Spending hours communicating with their offspring. One parent actually got the syllabus and texts and was monitoring study and homework completion. Result: Kids becoming more dependent on parents and not leaving home AFTER college.
Yes it's difficult but they have to fly eventually.
