I know one person who has a Maximus crossbow and he says it is a great shooting bow.No personal experience with them myself.
I would only ever buy one kind of crossbow and that is Excalibur. I have owned several different crossbows including Daco,Barnett.
For me it comes down to reputation, performance and the big one Warranty.

I know I will always get excellent service from Excalibur most members feel the same way and are very loyal to the company so it stands to reason there will be some negative feedback on bows that seem to be blatant copies of Excalibur.

Here is my Daco Hornet (over my wife Ibex), original paper stickers still on the limbs. This is before Excalibur had them, and they are fiberglass, I didn't Google it, I felt it.

Whats that? That is not made by Excalibur! You should be tarred and feathered! You don't belong in a forum that is all about crossbows built by crossbow hunters. This is an insult to the crossbow hunting community.
LOL!You have no clue what your talking about

My first hunting experience was last year. I shot a moose at 25 yards with a compound bow. Needless to say, I was hooked. However, the moose ran 200 meters into the woods before falling. As everyone in my group had an Equinox, I always felt that the recovery distance would have been way closer had I shot him with a crossbow.

So in preparation for 2010, I bought a crossbow. Wanting to save money, I went with the Maximus 225 lbs for $660. I thought I had scored a great deal!

After approximately 15 shots, the xbow was aligned and man was I impressed! It was quiet, accurate, fast. One of the limbs snapped when I went to cock the xbow for shot 16. Naturally, the first question the dealer asked was "did you do a dryfire?". Absolutely not. They took it back and told me they would repair it. It took 3 weeks to get replacement limbs. After week 3, I get a phone call from the dealer to come in to the store.

They replaced the limbs, shot it 5 times and the same thing occurred. Right away I asked to pay for an upgrade to an Equinox and they agreed. I've now shot hundreds of arrows, spent 8 + days hunting in the rain, and my Excal has been flawless.

Maybe I was unlucky and got 2 lemons. I will honestly say that the Maximus was slightly faster than my Equinox, which has a perfectly set and stretched flemish dyna. The included scope with the Maximus was also very high quality. However, I feel 100% more confident that I have an Excal slung over my shoulder. Seriously, what was I thinking?

Things sure have changed since I started hunting. The young kids dont remember the Excalibur Relayer with the wooden limbs. Do your research, then come back to the forum with some education.[/quote]

I hate to disagree with you sir, but that's a major part of what this forum is about...education. The folks on this forum are a friendly bunch of people that are very willing to share their wealth of knowledge about crossbows and archery hunting. Every so often a person....such as yourself....starts throwing out partial truths or incorrect information in a very antagonistic way. We've seen them before. Your sole purpose is to be disruptive and argumentative. I think that many of us on this forum don't appreciate that type of behavior. If you have something to say that is beneficial to this forum...then say it. If you are here to do nothing more than generate disagreements....then I for one would like to see you leave!

"That" is a Daco, the limbs used in the original Excalibur, fiberglass limbs, not wood.
I own several bows, only one is an Excalibur.
Fortunately I have nothing better to do tonight than watch you spin around trying to justify your purchase, your kicking yourself in the ass right now for it aren't you? Probably figured you would come here and try to insult people until you felt better about saving $50 on an imported tool? Have you figured out that people here care very little about what the other guy is holding? But there is only a certain tolerance for trolls.

Treeclimber wrote:I like my Maximus. It has a five year warranty. When I bought my Excalibur, it also came with a five year warranty, but this was quite a few years ago.

In all honesty, I just dont see $1000 worth of parts and engineering in any crossbow. The design is over 2000 years old and companies like Tenpoint have bows that cost $2500.

Hopefully when the sport becomes more popular, the prices will come down to a reasonable level.

Sorry, I fell asleep on the couch. But The excalibur axiom sells for $550 ready to shoot.

I could see people saying the Middleton bow is not a copy it does look a little different.
But the Maximus is a blatant copy it is the same down to the D bars the stock may have a little different shape but the limbs, riser, rail ( except for much heavier ) they are the same.
I don't believe they made a superior product they copied a Superior product they will sell a truck load and will then fade away as people experience poor service and poor quality.
But that is what China does in and out to make a buck.
Some will learn a hard lesson but it won' t be me.

You certainly enjoy stirring up the pot dont you treeclimber. This the way you get your kicks? Most of the adults here on this forum have better ways for gratification then trolling for responses to the kind of dribble you post here.

Why not post all this crap on the maximus forum? Oh wait, thats right, they dont have one.

On another note a recent scientific study determined that internet trolls had bedwetting issues well into their teens.

Sorry for violating the "dont feed the trolls" rule but I just felt like messin with this clown before I head out to work.

I hear Maximus crossbows make great tomato stakes, but kinda expensive when a stiff bamboo shoot will do!
