Lose Something?
Sax:
Great picture and to answer your question ----- we are so pleased to share this resource. Before you know it you will be able to share it too. I must plead ignorance, are they common in Florida and is there a hunting season?
One benefit you will find, as the population grows these friendly fowl will provide an abundance of fertilizer for your lawn and the pond.
Other benefits, they are great to shoot and they are good food for the table.
Good luck.

If one fly's over my stand I may get to taste it.

Take our geese, please!
I just shake my head every time I hear an anti-hunter or urbanite say, "You can't shoot Canada geese ! They're protected because they're our national symbol!!!"

All they are is flying rats at times when they get into a fresh cut grain field .
It is hard when someone says this too you and keep a straight face .I just shake my head every time I hear an anti-hunter or urbanite say, "You can't shoot Canada geese ! They're protected because they're our national symbol!!!"

They are a huge problem here as well. We have a very liberal "nuisance" season here and still the numbers continue to grow. And with these birds, migration is a thing of the past, they are year round residents.
You can't go to a shopping center without stepping in goose crap in the parking lot. They raise the fecal bacteria count in ponds to numbers that make you afraid to put your toes in the water.
And as far as being good table fare, well, maybe so, just as long as it is not my table. I have tried them prepared just about every way imaginable and still find them poor palette pleasers.
I also find it interesting that down here in the states most folks call them "Canadian Geese" instead of "Canada Geese" or "Canada Goose."
You don't want to know what the folks down south call all the "Canadian Snow Birds" that come flocking to the southern states to escape the harsh winters above the borders, lol. Some even prefer those visitors on Sax's front yard.

Ugh. Geese! Sky Carp. You can keep 'em.
We usually just breast them. Do them in a slow cooker with BBQ sauce. Not too bad that way.

are you crazy man? goose meat is very good and is dark like most wild game. i have tricked a few people into eating it and they loved it anyone who says goose breasts do not taste good just didnt have it cooked properlyplanter wrote:The biggest reason NOT to shoot geese is that they are downright horrible. I am not trying to start a fight with goose eaters but every bit of the meat is the color of liver. It's like where is the white meat??
