Fall Issue of HBM is in the mail.......

Post by DJH »

Dear Xcal Forum Members - Please be watching your mail box as the latest issue of the Horizontal Bowhunter Magazine (Bulk Mailing) was mailed on Friday, October 2nd. The enveloped and Canadian copies will be mailed on Thursday or Friday of this week. Watch for the respectable rag-horn whitetail on the cover.

This issue includes our regular columns (less Mr. Troubridge as he was in Africa killing a lion) and feature stories, plus some good articles and even “gooder” photographs. It is on the way so watch for it coming to a mail box near you very soon.

Hey Gang - Bulk mail went on Friday October 2 and Canadian mail went out today (October 8). Just for spits and giggles when you receive your issue please respond to this thread so that I can have a rough idea of how they are moving through the postal system. Let’s see how they move. The Canadians pay a higher membership fee to cover the additional postage and mailing expense $2.07/issue plus envelopes. However, their copies usually come in mint condition because they are mailed in the envelope. Let’s see if any Canadian Members get their issues before stateside members do even though they have been mailed a week later. Thanks in advance for your participation in this little test.

Please try not to beat up the Postal Service too bad. I worked for them for 27 years and know the system. My heart hurts when people bash it.

Bulk Mail is a lower rate because the mailer does some of the work that otherwise would have to be done by the Postal Service (for example, sorting the mail by ZIP Code or transporting the mail to a different postal facility). It is NON-preferential mail, meaning it gets worked AFTER the other classes of mail. This class of mail is not a fast way to mail. Mail to foreign countries is always First Class Mail and gets preferential treatment TO THE BORDER.

There are many things that contribute to why mail is handled the way it is and I could make your eyes glaze over with facts but I just wanted you to know a little bit about the difference in mailings.

If anyone has questions, I am always on a soapbox and will answer all PM's.

it may be another day or two before they get to Scott!

Dan, got mine on the 15th. Was more anxious than ever to check out the Lion Heart Award, as you already know, I had nominated Paul. Was sorry the pics got mixed up, but great story and, as always, awesome magazine!
