Keeping my crossbow cocked

Post by Cworetired »

Is it ok to keep it cocked for a few days or should I shot with a field tip at the end of the day. New Exocet and I do not want to cause any damage. Thanks

Don't know what your laws are down south but up here we have same laws as rifles, must be in a case 1/2 hour after sunset to 1/2 before sunrise. You wouldn't put it in a case cocked. I uncock mine with a rope cocker everytime I am done hunting.

The answer is in Excalibur's FACs
20. Can I leave my crossbow cocked all day?
It is not a problem to leave your crossbow cocked for an entire day, this is one of the many benefits of a Recurve Limb System. Please uncock your crossbow overnight or between hunts for safety.

Since I learned to use the rope cocker to decock my bow, I let the string down each evening after the hunt (instead of shooting a bolt into the ground)...just being cautious...I don't think you can hurt these Excaliburs, I just feel better knowing it can't accidently dryfire...
