Man Im sick of the deer always getting the drop on me.. I set up in a new place.. I must have just read it wrong. dang it Ive seen deer every day since opening day..still have venison from last years kill so Im being picky..anyway found a huge scrap today so I try to capitalize on it and I setup down wind imediately and stay all eve till dark...just as the golden hour hits and I ll be dag gum if that dang ole buck didnt get the down wind side of me..WTF...I was quiet...i entered perfect..Not just him but 6 other does at different times came in on the down wind side..I just got in front of their trail and didnt know it..the good thing is not one of them gave the ole BLOW job you seem to always get when busted..geezz....Im going back in the morn and setn up further south...I will win..dedicated as you know..

Sure as crap now they'll come out way too far out to get a shot. The way it always works.

First of all hello Hoss!...its been awhile. I smoke in the stand and very rarely get winded, i just don't think deer associate the smoke with human scent and i think it hides my scent as well. Im not telling you to start smoking  but it seems to work for me.

I smoke cigars and have noticed much the same results. I used to refrain from smoking in my ground blind, but have actually killed more deer while I had a cigar lit than when I didn't!

If it was easy anybody could do it! This is what makes it challenging and fun. Did I forget to mention frustrating too

i dont know how many time i snuffed out a smoke to shoot a deer now i shoot with it hanging out of my mouth. IF UR DOWN WIND OF THEM UR SCREWED REGARDLESS DOESENT SEEM TO MATTER WHAT PERCAUTIONS YOU TAKE . i never smoke when its low light as you turn into a blinking red beacon also if iam in a lower stand i refrain as much as possible most of my stands are atleast 20 feet or better :o
